The following article is written in general. Nothing to do with Holidex.

Observations in Legacy systems and Present Systems:

+ Points:

1. Excellent documentation for Booking Agents, Users ..etc

2. 99.999 up time.

3. Capable to take more load

- Points:

1. Lack of documentation for developers.

2. Mixed business rules across different layers

3. In modern cloud computing, difficult to achieve 99.999 up time.

4. Difficult to deploy across continents.

5. Failed to maintain knowledge and Failed to retain staff who worked long time on systems.

6. Not cost effective

Oracle SQL Developer / Oracle Data Modeler

March 10, 2012 Leave a comment

Database design is tough Job. We have couple of options.
One thing sure is, using Oracle Data Modeler is painful.
Step 1: Create all tables and relationships easily in Oracle SQL Developer
Step 2: Take DDL and import it back to Oracle Data Modeler. Do naming conversions, …etc
Step 3: Generate DDL and bring it back to Oracle SQL Developer

Editing Tables in Oracle SQL Developer easy. We can compare easily with the help of following two screens.

Dozer – boolean mapping issue – resolved

March 8, 2012 Leave a comment

Problem Statement:

http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=2893120&group_id=133517&atid=727368

================================================================================================

Here is a statement from wsdl2java that may help.

http://www.coderanch.com/t/550457/Web-Services/java/wsdl-java-replace-primitives

If the WSDL says that an object can be nillable, that is the caller may choose to return a value of nil, then the primitive data types are replaced by their wrapper classes, such as Byte, Double, Boolean, etc.

http://ws.apache.org/axis/java/user-guide.html#HowYourJavaTypesMapToSOAPXMLTypes

================================================================================================

This is not working as specified

http://dozer.sourceforge.net/documentation/simpleproperty.html

Recursive Mapping (bi-directional)

Dozer supports full Class level mapping recursion. If you have any complex types defined as field level mappings in your object, Dozer will search the mappings file for a Class level mapping between the two Classes that you have mapped. If you do not have any mappings, it will only map fields that are of the same name between the complex types.

================================================================================================

Final Solution

<field>
<a is-accessible=”true”>fieldName</a>
<b is-accessible=”true”>fieldName</b>
</field>

OR

<!–
<field>
<a get-method=”getfieldName”>fieldName</a>
<b set-method=”setfieldName”>fieldName</b>
</field>

EMF Health protection

February 8, 2012 3 comments

Exposure to Electromagnetic Field (EMF) is not healthy. Based on my studies in internet, it is better to stay away from EMF. There are no fixed standards. I am considering exposure to more than one milliGauss is not healthy. Rest you need to decide for your self based on your own studies. Long term exposure to EMF can cause Lukemia, Cancer or other deceases.

What I did?
Purchased Trifield 100XE EMF Meter from Amazon.

Actions I took:
1.    Desktop computer is emitting very high EMF. Moved to couple of feet away.
2.    Dish washer is very high. Showing 50 milliGauss +. Stay away when it is working.
3.    Microwave is showing high reading. Stay away when it is in work. Or Avoid using it.
4.    In wall there is high EMF. Move beds and chairs away from it.
5.    Laptops are showing high readings. Use separate keyboard, mouse and monitor and keep it away.
6.    LCD computer monitors showing very high readings. Maintain more than 20 inches distance.
7.    Educate friends and public through internet.
Good Health is secret of happiness.
